Our department's human resources committee expects academic applicants to have a Ph.D. degree from an internationally well-known physics program and a solid research background with a strong publication record in one of the current experimental/theoretical research areas of the department (https://phys.metu.edu.tr/research) or a related area and at least (or in track for completing a minimum) two-year postdoctoral study in an internationally well-recognized university or research institute outside Turkey.

Members of the department are expected to pursue a vigorous research program, attract external research funding and contribute strongly to the department's teaching program both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A proven record of good command of written and spoken English is also required as this is the medium of instruction in all METU programs.
